UTOPIAS: a shared journey to spark collective energy and reimagine how we connect with the Earth
What if utopia wasn’t a distant illusion, but a driving force for action? Jérôme Delmas, CEO of SWEN CP, and Giulia Lecarrié, Head of Engagement, explore the spirit behind UTOPIAS — a movement built on uniting energies, celebrating pioneering efforts, and forging new paths forward. This is a living, collective utopia — grounded, embodied, and alive — one that begins where everything starts: in the soil.
What inspired the launch of the UTOPIAS project?
Jérôme Delmas : At SWEN Capital Partners, we’re a mission-driven company with a clear ambition: to put investment at the service of Nature. But we know we can’t do it alone. True transformation happens when perspectives, expertise, and commitments intersect. That’s why we created UTOPIAS — a shared space to bring people together, spark new possibilities, and, above all, co-create tangible paths toward regeneration.

Giulia Lecarrié: The word “UTOPIAS” might catch some people off guard. To some, it may sound naïve. But that’s a choice we’ve made — deliberately and proudly. We deeply believe that utopias are essential to driving action. Environmental issues are too often framed as restrictions or sacrifices. What if we offered a positive, empowering vision instead? A utopia isn’t an unrealistic dream. It’s a bold, shared ambition — one we choose to make real, together.
Why is the collective such a central part of your approach?
Jérôme: Because the challenges we face go far beyond individual or sectoral solutions. When driven by purpose and integrity, investment can be a powerful lever for change. But without those on the ground — researchers, farmers, artists, entrepreneurs — it lacks direction. UTOPIAS was born from this belief: real solutions emerge at the crossroads, where different worlds meet and collaborate.
Giulia: The collective is also our answer to the widespread sense of powerlessness. We believe that everyone, in their own way — through their profession, on their land, in their community — can help spark new ways of thinking, doing, and connecting. Sometimes it’s small gestures. Sometimes it’s large-scale projects. But they all matter. UTOPIAS exists to make these efforts visible, to connect them, to amplify them — because it’s in networks that real momentum grows.
Why did you choose soil regeneration as your first theme?
Jérôme: Because soil is both essential and overlooked. It hosts extraordinary biodiversity, regulates water, stores carbon, feeds humanity — and yet we keep degrading it. We chose to begin here because it’s a universal, unifying issue. It speaks to scientists and farmers, chefs and investors alike. And it calls for a new kind of utopia — one rooted in the living world.
Giulia: To regenerate soil is to reconnect with life itself. It also gives real meaning to our mission: to reconcile economic performance with ecological impact. This theme captures the essence of UTOPIAS — taking on a real, systemic challenge by mobilizing a wide range of people who, together, can shape lasting solutions.
How do you plan to keep this momentum alive?
Giulia: This is a long-term journey. We’re launching a one-year first cycle filled with diverse content — podcasts, portraits of changemakers, real-world case studies, scientific insights, and artistic contributions. The goal is to document what’s emerging, to inspire action, and to equip those ready to engage.
Jérôme: This October, we’ll present the first UTOPIAS Awards — a way to honor those who are charting new paths through bold ideas, collaboration, and a willingness to rewrite the rules. And at the end of the cycle, a collective book will bring together the insights, experiences, and stories that emerged along the way. It won’t be an ending — but rather a stepping stone for what comes next. Each year, a new theme will fuel the journey, but our direction remains unchanged: moving forward, together, toward ways of living that restore rather than deplete.

The project team
This project was born from a shared conviction — but above all, from collective effort. Here are the people who bring UTOPIAS to life every single day.
